In response, former President Donald Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to the city on Saturday, with his administration citing the need to restore order and address what it called “lawlessness.”

According to an AFP report, tensions flared as federal agents clashed with angry crowds, deploying flash-bang grenades and tear gas during the arrest of dozens of migrants in a city known for its large Latino population.
